The Story Behind Burman's Gun Podi®

Burman's love for authentic South Indian food began in the 1980s during college, where close friendships across the southern states introduced him to regional home cooking, family recipes, and the rich world of podis. What started as shared lunches and countless home-cooked meals grew into a lifelong passion for these bold, comforting flavors.

Years later, that passion found new purpose at home. Burman's daughter loved dosas but would only eat them with podi. Wanting to make her meals more nourishing, he began experimenting with small homemade batches, adding wholesome ingredients rich in flavor and nutrition. What started as a father's kitchen project soon became something much more.

Today, Burman's Gun Podi® is crafted from carefully selected ingredients, individually roasted and slow-ground in small batches to create its signature aroma, texture, and depth of flavor. More than a traditional podi, it's a versatile gourmet seasoning that pairs as easily with idlis and dosas as it does with rice bowls, toast, fries, salads, sandwiches, and more.
